Overview

Catch a glimpse of the Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori, the third-largest church in the world. It was built on the site of an earlier cathedral dedicated to Saint Reparata. It exhibits different architectural styles and is the unique repository of faith, believe, and history.

Description

The Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori is the beautiful piece of architecture. Constructed by Sienese architect Arnolfo di Cambio, it is a treasury where faith, believe and history meets. It took 170 years to complete this church and is reconstructed many times. The beautiful ribbed dome was creativity added by Brunelleschi in the 1420s, similarly, the facade was renovated to reflect Cambio’s design in the 19th century. As you step inside the church, marvel at the soaring painted dome and lovely stained-glass windows. Don't forget to visit the crypt where Brunelleschi's tomb lies. Catch the marvelous views over Florence from the top of dome.
