Built of Parian marble the Athenian Treasury was constructed by the Athenians to preserve the offerings made by the citizens to the Sanctuary of Apollo. Constructed between 510 and 480 BCE, it is still intact and you can see various texts and hymns inscribed on the walls of this treasury.

Constructed by the Athenians, it was a votive building designed to hold the offering made by Athenians to the Delphi oracles. The treasury was constructed with Parian marble and has a Doric Freize decorated with 30 metopes. The metopes depict the mythological themes of Theseus, Heracles, and Amazons. It is assumed that two Athenian sculptors carved the metopes- one from the archaic period and the other from the Severe-style of classical. Various texts were inscribed on the walls of the treasury, including hymns to Apollo. Constructed between 510 and 480 BCE, it is still intact. To the left of the treasury, in a highly visible triangular area, the Athenians have preserved the actual spoils from the battle of Marathons.
