Cellular Jail, situated at Port Blair, stood quiet witness to the tortures meted out to the revolutionaries,who were imprisoned in this Prison.The Jail, established in 1906 and attained the name, ‘cellular’ because it is completely made up of separate cells for the self-containedincarceration of the prisoners.

Cellular Jail was a seven-branched, puce-colored structure with central pylonperforming as its support and a huge construction including honeycomb like corridors. Later, this structural design was destroyed and currently three out of the seven points are undamaged. The Jail, now a center of excursion for all freedom loving populaces, has been affirmed a National Memorial.
