Republic Square or Jumhooree Maidan as its well known was organized in the year 1989 confronting the northern waterfront in the Maldives. On the eastern side of the Jumhooree Maidan, one can appreciate the latest police Headquarters and the authorized flag post on which is lifted a permanent flag, the largest in the country.
