With the origin in 12th century and rebuilding in 15th & 16th century, it was a wealthy locality of several inhabitants. This coastal site was declared as a historical monument in 1927 and in 1929, it was known as a protected site. After some repairing in 1948, it was declared as a National Park and a working site of Archaeologists. In 1969, this property was taken over by Museum trustees.
