Achalgarh fort is no less than a wonder. Encircled by a massive battlement wall, it houses the Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple, dedicated to lord Shiva. Perched on the top of the mountain, the Achalgarh Fort is among the most beautiful medieval monuments found in Mount Abu. Located just at 8 Km from the main town, this fortress is surrounded by massive battlement walls. The Achalgarh fort was built by Rana Kumbha in the 14th century. Inside the fort, you will see the Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple. The main idol in the temple is of Lord Shiva and legend has it that there are footprints of Lord Shiva on the rock. There is also a panchdhattu structure of Nandi along with many other idols. Nearby the temple is a beautiful Mandakini Lake. The Achalgarh fort has two main entrance gates- first Hanumanpol and second Champapol. Don’t forget to see the historic Jain temples that lie at a 10-minute climb from Achalgarh.
