At around 27 km away from Srinagar, Avantiswami temple is named after the first royal member of the Utpala Dynasty. The king acquired the major credit of construction behind these twin temples of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva during the 9th century. These Avantipur temples are located on the main way, in the southeast of Srinagar. However, this famous construction witnessed mass destruction during the medieval ages, so that most of the part of this attractive construction is in the form of ruins.
