Perched on a small hilltop with Meenachil River flowing below, Valiyapally is the one of the oldest church in the Kerala. It is Kerala’s most prominent and ancient church which stands on a lovely hilltop of Piravom. The beautiful carving on the Erthazu (Altar) is a perfect blend of art and sculptural skill. Cross lock system, 4 ft thick church wall, lock links, inter connected lock joints, interlocked ceiling, the table displaying festival dates in square shaped script on the south wall, the huge cross stone and cross base on the western yard, most ancient worship material prayer scroll and hand-written books are some of the things that will make this visit quite exploring and interesting.
