Every day thousand of devotee visits Ettumanoor Mahadev Temple to pay homage to Lord Shiva, the presiding deity of the temple. It is an important stopover for the Sabarimala Ayappa Temple pilgrims. This temple is an architectural marvel constructed artistically and has a copper roof. There are several wooden sculptures around the temple along with prominent statues of two bulls. Complex also houses Dakshinamurthy , Ganapathi and Sastha temple . An engraving found in the temple indicates that it is 400 years old.

This ancient Shiva temple is an ultimate testament of the vishwakarma Sthapathis. The present temple is reconstructed in 1542 AD . By seeing its gopuram and the fortress you can get the idea of its grandeur. Dravidian mural paintings inside the outside the main entrance is worth exploring. The fresco of Pradosha Nritham (Dance of lord Shiva) can be seen in the temple. The idol of a bull surrounded by small bells and metal leaves of the banyan tree lying on the top of the golden flag will bewildered you by its architecture. The copper roofs with its 14 ornamental tops give it a massive look. Bhagavati, Sastha, Ganapathy and Yakshi are installed here as subordinate deities.
