Adam Peak is one of the most popular tourist destinations of the island. Adam Peak has been a pilgrimage center for over a thousand years. The hike to the mountain starts from Dalhousie village. The first thirty minute of this track winds through the tea estates, past Buddha shrines and through the big Makara Torana arch. As you move ahead to the large Peace Pagoda, the path gently becomes tough with climb and steps. By the time you reach the vertical section equipped with handrails, you’re within about 1500 steps of the summit. As you move ahead, you will find that upper slopes of the mountain have dense forest wrapped in the thick cloud. These Cloud wrapped forest are home to various species of colorful bird life such as Sri Lankan White-eye and Eurasian blackbird. As you reached the top of the summit you will see a huddle of buildings. Admire the footprints which are in the form of a small, irregular depression, sheltered under a tiny pavilion and painted in gold. Enjoy the spectacular view of the surrounding.
