The arch-shaped Annai Indira Gandhi road bridge is the longest bridge of India, which connects National Highway (NH 49) with Rameswaram Island. It is commonly known as Pamban Bridge, which was publicly opened on 2nd, Oct 1988. The 2.4 km length of this bridge is settled on the collective strength of 79 pillars. The bridge is carefully maintained with the anti-corrosive coating.
